The term "art therapy" speaks for itself and, to put it simply, means healing through art. However, it is much more important to understand how this therapy works because there are no medications involved.
Art therapy can be considered a unique link between a person’s conscious and subconscious, a so-called bridge between the mind and soul. The idea here is that most of a person’s problems arise from the deep subconscious level, not the superficial conscious level.
The main value of therapy through art is that it can balance and harmonize one’s mental state, increase one’s abilities for self-expression, reflection and self-discovery, reveal creative potential, and activate inner reserves.
Thanks to art, on a symbolic level, one can experience most of the known feelings and emotions: love, joy, delight, passion, hatred, offense, anger, fear, disappointment, etc. and experiencing any of these feelings happens in a positive way, i.e. a person is 100% free from receiving any psychological or emotional trauma.
Art therapy allows a person to understand their purpose, meaning of life, global goal, their own value, and what they can give to this world. It turns out that this is not just therapy, but a profound work with one’s own consciousness.
